Tillotson Ireland Karting Championship Round 3

Rían Spratt in kart number 112 emerged victorious. He had a dominant weekend leading up to the final, having won both of his heats and starting the final from pole position. This round featured the largest Bambino grid seen all year, with eight drivers taking to the grid for the weekend. The fastest lap in the Final was set by Robby Lyons in kart number 111. In the final race, there was a close battle between Rían Spratt and Robby Lyons at the front, with less than 3/10ths of a second separating them initially. Spratt held the lead from the start despite an attempt by Danny Clancy to challenge him early on, which resulted in Clancy having a half-spin and allowing Robby Lyons to move into second place. The final classification saw Robby Lyons finish in second place, Danny Clancy finished third. Daire Fitzgibbon was close behind in fourth place, Ollie Conneely secured the final trophy position by finishing fifth.

Diarmuid Claridge Jr in kart number 208 secured a commanding victory, replicated his victory and fastest lap performance from the previous round’s final.

The battle for the remaining podium positions was fierce, particularly between Harley Brereton, Jack Fingleton, and Billy Green. Jack Fingleton made a three-wide manoeuvre against Brereton and Green through turn four. Despite his frustration at losing out on third place, Billy Green (kart 205) finished just behind the podium in fourth position, Max Cooling (kart 212), a novice driver, finished in fifth place, securing the position of the lead novice. In a close finish, the podium rounded out with Diarmuid Claridge in first, Harley Brereton secured second place and Jack Fingleton finished in third place.

Eddie Somers Jnr in kart number 302 secured a dominant victory. He demonstrated dominance throughout the weekend, having won both of his heats and setting the fastest lap of the final.  Eddie Somers Jnr’s closest competitor in the final was Billy Clancy. Billy Clancy (kart 309) finished in second place. The battle for the podium positions was close behind the leader, with Billy Clancy just edging out Joey Kearney (kart 306) to claim second place. Joey Kearney finished in third place, only 0.146 seconds behind Clancy. Sean Donegan (kart 319) finished fourth, having just missed out on a podium position.

Aaron Coogan in kart number 401 emerged victorious. He had a strong performance throughout the weekend, having also won Heat 1 and Heat 2. His victory in the final was secured with a gap of 2.696 seconds over the second-place finisher. Following Aaron Coogan, the final classification saw Keith Burke (kart 410) finish in second place. Briain Wilson (kart 429), who also set the fastest lap, secured the final podium position in third place.

Colm Munnelly in kart number 501 took the first step of the podium. Munnelly started the final on pole position and led every lap. He finished the race with a significant margin of a staggering 5.1 seconds over the second-place finisher. His performance was described by onlookers as a clean sweep.

The fastest lap in the Final was set by Niall Hurson on lap 6. Behind Colm Munnelly, the podium was completed by Kyle Kavanagh in second place, and Peter McBride in third place. Peter McBride made a notable charge through the field to claim his podium spot, having started the final from 10th position.
