The Franciacorta Karting Track recently played host to the fourth and penultimate round of the WSK Super Master Series, delivering a spectacular event with 405 participants from 56 nations across the MINI, OKNJ, OKJ, OK, and KZ2 categories. The results from this round have further intensified the championship battles as drivers now look ahead to the grand finale at the renewed Leopard Circuit Viterbo.
In the MINI U10 final, Daniel Pasquali (ITA) of CRG Racing Team dominated the weekend. After securing pole position, winning his heats and the Prefinal, Pasquali completed a clean sweep by also winning the final. American Colton Schniegenberger (USA) from Ward Racing finished in second place, with championship leader, American Josh Bergman (USA) of Kidix Driver Performance, taking third. Pasquali’s victory marks a significant challenge to Bergman’s championship lead.
The MINI Gr.3 final witnessed a close battle, with championship leader, the Portuguese driver Xavier Lazaro (POR) from DR, ultimately clinching a strong victory. Frenchman Stan Ratajski (FRA) of BabyRace, who had won Prefinal-B, finished a close second. Dutchman Cees Muijs (NED) from Spino Project secured a sensational third place in a sprint to the finish line. Lazaro’s win in Franciacorta has further extended his lead in the championship standings.
The OKJ final saw Canadian Ilie Crisan Tristan (CAN) representing Tony Kart Racing Team take the top spot. American Devin Walz (USA) of KR Motorsport, who had secured pole position in qualifying, finished in second place. Third place went to Englishman Noah Baglin (GBR) from Prema Racing, who was also a winner in Prefinal-B. Despite finishing fifth in the final, Dutchman Dean Hoogendoorn maintains the lead in the OKJ championship.
In the OKNJ final, Gioele Girardello (ITA) of Modena Kart produced a remarkable performance, winning both Prefinal-B and the Final. After leading for the majority of the race, Frenchman Many Nuvolini (FRA) from Prema Racing finished in a close second place. Ukrainian Oleksandr Legenkyi (UKR) from Team Driver secured the third position after briefly taking the lead. The OKNJ championship remains tightly contested, with American Lucas Palacio leading, closely followed by Italians Michele Orlando and Gioele Girardello.
The OK final concluded with a victory for Spaniard Cristian Costoya (ESP) of Parolin Motorsport, who also won Prefinal-A. Italian Filippo Sala (ITA) from Forza Racing made a strong comeback to finish in second place. Another impressive comeback saw Italian Iacopo Martinese (ITA) of KR Motorsport secure third place after a close fight to the finish line. Despite finishing eighth, Belgian Dries Van Langendonck continues to lead the OK championship by just one point over Costoya.
Looking ahead, the fifth and closing round of the WSK Super Master Series will take place at the renewed Leopard Circuit Viterbo next Sunday, March 16th. The Finals in Viterbo will award the championship titles in all categories, including MINI, OKNJ, OKJ, OK. The Viterbo event promises a thrilling conclusion to what has been an incredibly competitive series.
Several drivers have a strong chance of clinching the titles. In MINI U10, Josh Bergman holds a good margin. Xavier Lazaro in MINI Gr.3 also has a comfortable lead. Dutchman Dean Hoogendoorn leads the OKJ standings. The OKNJ category presents a very close battle between American Lucas Palacio and Italians Michele Orlando and Gioele Girardello. Similarly, the OK championship is on a knife-edge with Belgian Dries Van Langendonck holding a mere one-point advantage over Spaniard Cristian Costoya.
The grand finale in Viterbo is set to be a memorable event, concluding a hard-fought series of international karting.
